My Affair With Bob

I already know what you are thinking. I'm not having a affair. Well, yes! An affair with a candy cane.Yesterday afternoon, I went to my local supermarket. I was glancing at the candy isle and came across these. Great color combination. Don't you agree? You know I like green.  I remember when I was little, my Mom always purchased Bobs candy canes to eat and decorate the tree with. Here are some facts. Candy canes on the Christmas tree, symbolize the Shepherd's in the field on that first Christmas night. Thus, the Shepherd's crook became the candy cane. Interesting, right? I would also, do the activities on the candy cane box. Do you remember that?Am I dating myself?
Candy canes are a tradition now. Thank you, Bob!

Here's hoping you have an affair with Bob also. Can't wait to make some hot cocoa with a candy cane stirrer! Have a wonderful week. A big Thank you to all who voted for me at the Blog Guidebook. I made it to round 3. Without you, it wouldn't be possible. Candy canes to go around for everyone. Ha, Ha.  Again, Thanks! Yippee. Hugs, Liz

Pine Cones and Memories

A  Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish Friends! I was excited to receive a package from my Mom in the mail, on Monday. She sent me loads of pine cones from the sunshine state, Florida. I request them every year so my students can glitter them for the Holidays. They are huge! Really huge! There is something about them that makes me feel like Christmas is here or almost on it's way.I hesitated this year when the package arrived. I didn't open it right away and became sad. When my kids were little, Mom's package added so much excitement in our home when it arrived. Who would open it first or who would distribute the goodies inside. The kids are grown now and Mom's package is left at the door just  for me. But, I do hold those memories inside. " Mom, Nanny's package is here! " Can I open it?"  "Now!" " Please!" " I can't wait till my Brother gets home." Giggle..... Priceless.
Do you have any fond memories of Christmas past? A gift that was special to you or someone that made your Holiday bright. Please share your Christmas past. I would love to hear.
                                                                         Peace and Joy,
                                                                                       Liz

Vintage Singer Sewing Machine

I am doing some research this morning on my Singer Portable Electric Sewing Machine 221-1.Would you believe my Hubby found it in the garbage several years ago. Question is do I keep this Vintage baby or sell ?
I found out that these sewing machines were introduced at the Chicago Worlds Fair in 1933 and production ended in the mid 60's. These durable machines were made of cast aluminum. The majority of them manufactured were lacquered black. Slightly over 11 pounds, hence the name "Feather Weight." They only created straight stitches. My machine has the numbers 678-3A. So if I am doing my research correctly, my machine is a 1955 Centennial addition. It came with booklet, hard carrying case, all attachments included. Just need some thread! Now that's a question for you guys. Do I need Vintage wooden spooled thread? I don't think that should matter. Who knows? Let's see if I can get it up and running. I think I need to call my Mom for some advise.
After the coat drive, I have more room in the spare closet. I think I'll move the sewing machine in there for now. I have loads of laundry to do today. Yuk!! So, bye for now. Laundry Land is where I'll be.
Happiness is clean clothes:)
