Steampunk In Saugerties::

          The best thing about being on vacation is getting together with friends. Yesterday, Thelma and I were tourists in Saugerties, NY. Well, everyone we met thought we were. LOL!
   We ventured out early in the morning. On the itinerary was shopping, eating and of course catching up. Here are some great places we visited: Saugerties Antiques, Steamship Alice( pic above) The Bakery for gluten free goodies, The Perfect Blend yarn/tea shop, Miss Lucy's for lunch and The Saugerties Light House.
   It was a perfect day to share french fries, laugh, take photos and be tourists :)
   Thanks Thelma for a great day. Sorry, for making you walk the plank...ha, ha.
   I hope you're having a wonderful time also, with Friends and Family this summer. If you want to follow more of my travels catch me on Instagram: Elizabeth Hanley. Many more pics to come...
                               bye for now,

Roadside Peppermint::

               Quick stop at a roadside stand this afternoon while out and about. The peppermint reminded me of Mom. Soon, I'll be sitting with her enjoying a cup or two. Definitely, time for me to make some peppermint tea of my own.
    Here's a tip before cooking. Place cleaned peppermint in the freezer 24-48hrs. before cooking. I don't know the scientific reason behind this method but, makes for great tea. When ready, add 1 gallon of water in a large pot. Add 1 bunch of peppermint. Boil for 10 minutes. Cool, refrigerate, enjoy! Mom doesn't extract the peppermint leaves after the tea is completely cool and ready for refrigeration. She says it adds more flavor. I think she's right on with this.
    The tea of course is unsweetened. Sweeten to taste :)
Tomorrow, is Thursday already. Where has this week gone?

Hooked on Instagram::

                        How are you? I've taken the instagram plunge. I didn't realize many of my friends are instagraming. I'm thinking this could be very addicting. I planted the black eyed Susan's yesterday. Oops, I just reminded myself to water them. Figures!
                 It's good to have some time to relax. Friday, was my last day of school. Yay! Tomorrow, I'll hit the thrift shop. Not, before I take a brisk morning walk. I've started walking again. Could this be why my feet are bothering me? My Daughter purchased pink tennis balls on Sunday. Yes, that's next... Eeek!
                How's your summer been? Do you collect vintage sheets and pillowcases? Well, I have a treat for you. Sorry :( You'll just have to wait till the late summer/ early fall addition of Gatherings Magazine arrives. I'm pleased to be a contributor once again. Thanks to Heather Thompson and a great team of talented Women. I can't wait to see the finished copy.
                 Well, I hope you're having a wonderful summer. I'll touch base with you and see what you've been up to. I hope it's been fun.
                                                                             xxx Liz
