1967 VINTAGE SHASTA

I was on my way to go buy a new pair of Sneakers today. Call me crazy, but I've been eyeing this baby for a year now! I pulled over the side of the road on my tippey toes and quickly took a pic. I felt like JAMES BOND 007. Very sneaky and sly,so no one would notice me. Then, around the corner I drove and knocked on the yellow house. The Husband asked the Wife if it was for sale. She didn't answer Him and instantly went inside. He said they were moving soon and TO MAKE A OFFER!! Hum, decisions, decisions. I have 2 weeks to decide. So I NEED your HELP! YES or NO?? Pink or NO Pink that is the question? Leave me a comment!! Hugs, Liz

Yes, is there water damage? Or termites? Everything you mention --floor, roof (whoops...leaking roof?), oven, tires, etc. is doable. Write a quick email to Debra Bolnik (Sisters on the Fly, Sister #45) at her business Montana Camps and Cabins. bolnicklbolnick@aol.com. Her website is www.montanacampsandcabins.com
Tell her everything you know about the trailer and take her advice. She has restored about a hundred trailers so knows the pitfalls. All best and Happy Trails, Irene

Go for it! If you can get it for under $500, I say,it's worth it and it'll be fun!

I would suggest checking out this blog: http://reddirtshasta.blogspot.com/
to help you get some ideas about what's involved and how to do it.

I say yes too. I just discovered the group on line yesterday but have seen "Sister's on the Fly" before. I saw a trailer in W.Virginia on the site for $1500. Listen to the girls. $500. sounds good. I'm from upstate NY as well and if you don't buy it, maybe I will? Go for it. I'll be following as I have all the same interests as you do.

That isn't a 1967 Shasta. It is more like a 1961 to 1964 Shasta Airflyte. Depending on the interior and any exterior damage it is worth $500 to 1K. MAYBE $1500 but it would have to be pretty original inside and nothing missing with only minor water damage repair. Good luck.

Thank you for Comment! The Original owner said it was 1967? It needs work. New floor, 1 broken window, water leak right when you walk in the door. Everything else is original. Oh, needs a oven. From what I could see right off the bat that's the list.My Husb. Wasn't with me on my 007 expedition. There could be more that us Women don't know about. Thanks for looking! I might need your Know how in the Future. Liz

hey...it looks great..plan on spending quite a few dollars to bring it up to "safe enough" ...probably at least $1000.00 and more for work inside.....my 600.00 trailer now has about 3000.00 in it!!

I'd have to go with the concensus of $500 or less.

Brain is correct. By 1967, the shasta's lost the "Canned ham" look. They started making them more square. Buy it. If you don't, someone else will be living your dream. Also, there's a lot of support out here for newbys like us. Good luck.

Liz - if you go back to look at it, take a screwdriver with you. Look under the trailer and poke lightly on the underside. If the screwdriver does immediate damage or sinks like a sponge, then the floor is toast! That's a big expense. Also, I'm a Sister with Sister's on the Fly (#1156). We have more fun than anyone! :)

Thanks, Heather!! The floor is a mess. I don't know about the under carriage. Good idea though! I have 2 wks to decide, since the owners are away. Are the Sister's on the Fly ,only based in Colorado? Any Chapters in Ny? I bet you guys have a blast. Liz
