what's your soap story?

Do you like soap? I've been using my accumulation of soaps here at the house that have been forgotten. It seems that they have been pushed aside for liquid. Not anymore.. I'm lathering up. My favorite above is nutmeg (round) it smells so wonderful. The ironstone gravy boats were a second thought. I think I'll put one by the kitchen sink to use as a soap dish. Does anyone still use ivory soap? My Mom swore by that soap.

...and why haven't I used traditional soap? Beats me.
What are you up to this Sunday? I'm on the mend from a hand injury. Thank goodness it wasn't broken. FYI, I'll pass next time helping Hubby with heavy objects. Finally, after a week I can hold my camera again. So, scary.
Have a great day. Till next time,
                                                                                 xxx Liz

I still use Ivory soap. I didn't for years but then went back to it -- my mother too swore by it and there's something about the scent that takes me back...even to the time she put it in my mouth for saying "bad words"! lol! That's a taste you don't forget in a hurry! :)

I too am trying to use some of the bar soap that has been pushed aside for the convenience of liquid. The best are the bars that my friend brought back from France at least 8 years ago but were too pretty to use.
Love the way you have used the ironstone for a soap dish, I may steal that!

It's so funny you bring up this topic. I got some lovely soap from my Secret Santa at work and decided that it was high time to use all the beautiful bars of soap I had accumulated. What a treat for the senses!

I love the smell of Ivory soap! I break out in a rash if I use it though, so I only get to smell it at someone else's house. I have quite a few of bars of soap that are still in their fancy boxes. You've enticed me to get them out and actually use them!

Ivoy soap makes me sneeze but I do use bar soap for bathing! I worked with a woman who loved the triple milled french soap and would haunt TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross to keep her stock up. If it came on clearance because the box was damaged, she would buy them up for herself and always had pretty ones on hand for gifts. Because of her, I love nice soaps
One year for xmas, every "girl" I knew got wonderful soap and now a couple of my friends and family are hooked too!
Always love your posts! Happy Sunday! karen....

I love Ivory, but it dries out my skin. Dove is my favorite - the classic rose scent is so clean and refreshing. I do once in awhile take the plunge and purchase boutique soaps from Crabtree & Evelyn - my favorites are Iris and Rosewater...Camomile for the summer months.

Such a neat idea to use a gravy boat as a soap holder, Liz! I like bar soap the best. I have some liquid here, but I like putting the bar between my hands and lathering up!

Thanks so much for joining in this week!

I love the idea of using those old gravy boats to hold a bar of soap. They look so cute holding the soap. I don't like gravy :( but now I can use those cute little gravy boats for something else yay! I like my ivory soap plus it floats LOL.

I hope your hand gets better. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have both liquid and hard soap but my favorites are handmade ones - once in a while I splurge at the farmers market.
