Baking cookies! :)

Morning Liz, How are you today? It's very windy here which is going to bring in some very cold winter later today. Will make it feel more like Christmas but I was kinda' liking the warm temps. :) We always make Nut, Screws and Bolts (party mix) for the holidays. But this time, because one of my sons came home the week before Thanksgiving I started early for him and made a huge batch. Got to make some more! :)

If we don't prepare my aunt's sugar cookies, it just isn't Christmas. In fact they are so special, I asked that she bring them to my wedding shower-those cookies are a gift in themselves!

I love your fun thrifting finds!

I love your blog it is so cute! My favorite food during the holidays is my mom's Herman Bread. We always have it on Christmas morning with coffee while we read the Christmas story. As for craft. My mom is a painter and I always help her create new ornanments for Christmas gifts. For the shut ins at our church we create a different angel ornament every year. froggie.22@juno.com

On Christmas Eve, after church service, I watch White Christmas while I bake chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, rice krispie treats and make two batches of fudge. My kids (and grandkids) would be so disappointed if I didn't!! Love your blog. Glad I found it. Adding to my favorites list.

Our family is rich in traditions. Leading up to Christmas our kids were each given a small bundle of straw when they displayed good behavior. They would add this to the manger under the Christmas tree to make a bed for Jesus. If there was bad behavior, we would have to take a bundle of straw out of Jesus' manger. No one wanted to be the one to not have a bed ready when Jesus was born. :)

For Christmas morning I've always made monkey bread, the bits of dough covered in cinnamon sugar & baked in a Bundt pan. And coffee!

I know this sounds lame but oatmeal raisin cookies are everyone's favorite and I use my grandmother's recipe.

I have always for about a year now loved your Where women create. just love the concept of women together creating. Now Where Women Cook . . . . but alas I have not sprung for an issue. So would love to win one of each.

We have been married more than 30 years, the children are gone and yet I hold on to my tradition of a new theme each year. That does not mean I go out and buy new things but I make my decor new or re arranged each year.
This year after Pinteresting and finding some fun paper ornaments I am making those with new ribbon and paper folding and punch outs. One year i made Teddy Bears for all and we had a Teddy Christmas. We always put lights up and put up the Christmas Sea Village and my front porch I love to re create. The mantle and Christmas dished make it all fun for even just my husband and I. We have learned to make our own fun while our children are making memories with their families.

The season is about setting the atmosphere of home and displaying what you love. Each season has can be creative and I love that best putting the pieces together! Anne

I think this may sound really silly but homemade pizza on Christmas Eve is a yearly tradition in our home. You see, when I was a little girl, Pizza Hut was the only chain restaurant (and really the only good family restaurant) in my South Dakota hometown of 6000 so each Christmas Eve the tradition became to go to Pizza Hut for pizza before the Christmas Eve Candlelight service. Now that I have a family of my own and live in the burbs of Dallas and all the restaurants are closed early I make homemade pizza for my family. It's something we look forward to each year and it brings me a little bit of nostalgia from my childhood right to the dinner table. The sad part is that I never have had it snow on Christmas Eve since I left South Dakota which was such a magical sight on the Christmas Eve's that it actually snowed when I was growing up as we went to Christmas Eve service.

The first year I was married we had to figure out how to balance holiday time with both my husband's family and my parents. We made the decision to have dinner with his family and we had my parents over for brunch. I found a recipe called Baked Breakfast which is an egg casserole that you prepare the day before and bake in the morning. We loved it and have served it every year since then for Christmas morning. To keep it special we only prepare it for Christmas morning. You can vary the ingredients that you put in it such as sausage or bacon, etc. Thanks for the giveaway. Kim klqnb4@gmail.com

Here in Australia we dont get these gorgeous mags...so I'm really really hoping to win them now!
We take turns in my family to host Christmas, so we all do 'our own thing'. So I guess my tradition is that when they all (30 of them) come to my house they WILL ALWAYS get a red, gold and green candlelit dinner and very traditional decorations. There is usually a long table and this year I will have overhead candles hanging in round metal 'cages' decorated with holly. Its all about the atmosphere...

Brenda G brenda@TshirtSpot.com Each year I make my great Aunt Betty's tea cakes from her East TN mountain recipe which requires a 5 lb bag of flour! If you mess with that recipe, they never turn out. ...so I have enough cookies for the world which Aunty Betty likely intended. She's been gone for over 20 years but I feel her with me each time I make these cookies in her honor and memory.

Making homemade chex party mix with my Grandmother. We made dishpans full for all our family. I think she started in the 70's and I started helping her in the 80's. We only got it once a year so it was a really special treat. The funny thing is, she always called it "trash" and we still call it that. I wonder if a magazine article once called it that? My Grandmother is gone now but we still carry on her tradtion.

Our holiday tradition is to put the kiddos in new Christmas pj's and drive around on Christmas Eve to see all the beautiful decorations and lights around our city! Started it with our little ones (usually gets them sleepy as well) and now doing it with the GC's! (Grandchildren).

My 3 children and I always make a gingerbread house filled with tons of candy. No matter what their age is (9yrs, 15yrs & 19yrs) they still love it every year ;).

My girls (ages 6 and 8) and I started a new tradition this year...Counting down Advent by doing 25 days of Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (RACK's). We do little things like bring the trash can in for a neighbor, give christmas cards to strangers, help someone bring their groceries to their car, little random acts of kindness. The kids are loving it.
But an ongoing tradition, I always make a sausage bread for Christmas morning breakfast and we love to watch A Christmas Story nonstop marathon. It's super fun. We even turn it into a game. Like each time we see a certain character, we do or say something funny. Or we eat a marshmallow. Just simple little silly things that make the holiday more memorable than the last. And we always try a new baked goodie recipe each year to share with our family, friends and neighbors.

Hi..My Mother passed away eighteen years ago but I still make her delicious Lemon Condensed Pudding she made every Christmas. When my Mother completed the pudding, she always served it in a beautiful bowl on a pedastal. I am thankful that I learned her recipe and am able to continue to serve this tasty tradition each Christmas. I have never missed a Christmas making this pudding and I also have the same bowl to serve it in to my family! So,each Christmas my children and grandchildren enjoy this tasty pudding right out of the same bowl that has been on our family's table for years!!

My husband drives me and our daughter around town looking at lights on Christmas Eve - only he's dressed and we wear our jammies and robes and drink hot chocolate from the convenience store. We've seen lots of Santa's helpers in the garages and lots of parties and presents through the windows. It truly is Peace On Earth, Goodwill Toward Men. It can only be better if it snows.... Lorelei

As for a tradition, The one thing that always has to be done are certain cookies...I HAVE to make the cut out sugar cookies...decorated, and the spritz. Other things change each year except for the 2 types of cookies!!!!
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.

Our tradition is the advent calendar. We made a homemade one out of small matchboxes when the kids were little. Inside each are directions to find a Christmas bible verse in the Bible. The kids take turns finding the verse and reading then they run and get a treat from their stocking that I hide in there each day. It is great family time after long days and rushing around.
