deck the halls holiday sampler::

 Every year I say.. "less is more" and this year is no different then last. My little home is ready for Christmas.
 Vintage shiny brites, woodland props, papers, repros and vintage photographs adorn the fresh tree this year. Using vintage photographs to highlight the tree was my inspiration as a vintage photo of my mom as a child hangs from a tree branch (previous post- inspiration) A frayed quilt from the 1900's a hides the tree stand out of sight. Greenery mixed with dollar Store candles and clear vessels were perfect and affordable. I'll be using some of these also at the dinner table Christmas eve.

The gold guilded mirror gets a makeover too with a vintage fur collar (a flea market find) and a pine cone swag befitting the holiday's. Foraging for berries, branches and twigs this year was a fun outing. More greens were added to a large sap bucket I picked up from Country Living fair this year. Placed by the front door with vintage cameras and more lights add a glow. Ice skates were a yard sale find.. a steal at a buck this past summer. The kitchen hosts a candy cane theme and another floral arrangement with leftover greens and berries.

A Christmas message from a postcard reads: All Good Wishes For a Happy Christmas~ hung in a vintage leather purse for all to see. Have you decorated your home for the Holiday's? I hope this post inspires you to use what you have on hand may it be vintage or not. Mix and match the old with new finds and even forage in the woods for branches and berries like I did a week ago. Enjoy this fun time decking the halls. Leave me a comment with a website address so I can come see your home all fancy for the holiday season thanks! xo Liz

at the flea::

Hi.. just popping in with some flea market images to share from today. Here were some of my faves: bistro chairs, trinkets, shabby chic, dress form, mason jars, vintage books and needlepoints dating back to late 1800- 1900's. If you follow me on Instagram there's more images to see.. and even the topic of the day to engage in, lol. Leave it up to a flea market vendor to point out that the dress form needs a boob job. Hey, great selling point  don't you think? Anyway, hope you had a fantastic weekend. Did you get a chance to go to the flea?

blue::

          Finally, some sun and blue skies. I'll take some vitamin D any day of the week. It's been awhile here and I've missed it all too much.
          Here's a combination of flea/thrift shop finds from last week and this past weekend. My favorite find was the porcelain hand from the flea. Glass beads will make their way to my Etsy shop soon, with other random finds I've been accumulating. Such as: music sheets, suitcases, findings, games, spools and more. Don't get to excited yet.. I have more! Yup!
         Can you believe Easter is this month? I haven't even thought about it myself. Have you?
                                                                           Happy Monday to you,
                                                                           xxx Liz

The Good Bones Chair::

        Sunday morning flea.. it always happens like this. I'm almost ready to leave and go home. This is when I find the best stuff. My loot was slim today but, this 1800's chair caught my eye at one vendors free pile. It has great bones to work with. The rush is in need of fixing. I was thinking of taking my glue gun for now and doing an instant remedy. Then, just add a cushion to camouflage the broken areas. I wish you could see it. Otherwise, it's in good shape and very sturdy :)
                Here's the rest of my goodies. Yes, another pincushion. They seem to follow me!
                      I hope you had a great weekend :)
                                              Did you make it to the flea?

Fleamarket Finds::

       Hubby and I went to the flea yesterday morning. I couldn't miss opening day. Here's some loot :)
        When, all was said and done. I meet this couple who made these great shadow boxes out of old bottles collected from the Long Island Sound. They told me they are scuba divers and dive to to great lengths to find unique bottles and then some. Very cool I thought. I so, enjoy hearing stories like this one.
        Did you find any Flea market finds this weekend?

It's That Time Of Year::

             Yes, Folks I'll be hitting the Flea this weekend. I'm doing the happy dance! For those who unlike me, who have  never been. I composed these 10 Things You Need To Know, When Hitting the Flea.

1. Have a list handy. Including measurements of furniture items and wish list.

2  Pack a  Flea market Survival Kit. Include:  a snack, tape measure, tissues, bags, toiletries, map if needed , sunscreen for the warm weather, sun glasses, bottled water, first aide kit, hand sanitizer.

3. Bring small dollar bills $$$. Sorry, they usually don't take credit cards.

4. Don't carry a handbag! I wear a small shoulder- sling. Easy to grab and lightweight.

5. Wear comfy shoes. Oh my, I once saw a woman walking through fields in stilettos, ouch!!

6. Bring a shopping cart. It makes life so much easier. Unless you want to make countless trips to the car. Not me!

7.If you can, arrive early for the best choices. Some Fleas charge more $ at the gate,when arriving early. It's all up to you! Check out admission rates prior to arrival.

8.Take your time and concentrate. If you really LOVE it, BUY it!!  I have in the past gone back to purchase an item and it was sold. Bye, Bye. Needles to say, trying to remember where that field or booth was located.

9.Early to bed, Early to Rise, Makes a Man / Woman  Healthy, Wealthy and Wise. So True !! You will be walking, walking , walking. Get a good nights rest.

10.Lastly,  have a great time. Take it all in. The people, the weather, the hidden treasures you will find.

        PS. Before I forget!! BE A Haggler. Haggle for the best price. Hey, it's worth a shot. I never pay full price for a item. The vendor can always say, "No".

                                 Hope this helps you on your Flea Market Travels. Have a great week everyone!

                                                                                                                 Hugs,
                                                                                                                 Liz  ;)
