Hi how are you? It's certainly been awhile I've been on the blogging scene. So much to do and not enough hours in the day to do all the things I love, one of them blogging.
Behind the scenes I've been putting my thoughts to paper, writing and editing my last article for Gatherings Magazine. Yes, it's very bittersweet and emotional. But, with all things good they don't last forever. It has been an amazing journey to say the least. I have learned so much about the magazine biz and have met some amazing and talented people. It has been surreal... I'm speechless.
I'm eager to start something new. But, for now I'm soaking up some sun, taking some time off and enjoying what Summer brings. It's all good.

a daughter's dedication::

My Dad was an artist. My fondest childhood memories of him were at his easel. Cigar in one hand, paintbrush in another. He was the happiest man alive.. Singing ballads, painting and enjoying his daughter this one and only. Oh, can't forget his gourmet sardine sandwiches. How on heaven could he eat those.
I remember Saturday morning jaunts to art supply shops. Talking art lingo with fellow artists and little me by his side taking it all in (smiles.) I remember rows of oil based paints, large canvas', brushes and turpentine (how I hated that smell.) I remember my first pack of cray pas and sketch book. His accent and his sneaky kisses on my forehead. How I miss those moments even today.. no matter how much older I become, he's still my Daddy to me and I miss him very much.

It seems like yesterday.. many yesterday's and today when asked who inspired me to write my article for Gatherings Magazine spring issue "Artists and Artisans" only one artist came to mind my Dad whom would ask "Did you finish that drawing in your sketch pad? " and "Why not?" gasp.
.. and to this day I have a special fondness for the arts, artists, anything artsy, craftsy, just NOT turpentine and sardines! lol.
So, without further adu stop by Gatherings Mag and check out the Spring issue dedicated to some mighty fine artsy folks. You're going to just be blown away by the Spring issue.

I know, it's been awhile. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. What have you been up to? It's been busy for me these days starting with holiday hoopla, shopping and everything inbetween. I've been inspired by the outdoors this year so, with this in mind my xmas theme this year will carry hints of greens, antlers and of course some vintage. Can't have xmas without it you know right? Since, we're on the xmas topic I had a great opportunity to shoot for Gatherings Mag at HiHoHome Market in Gardiner, NY several weeks ago. A Family run shop filled with vintage treasures, new furnishings and textiles. Stop by Gatherings Magazine Blog tomorrow for the feature on HiHoHome Market.  When, I heard that Nordic and white was the theme of Gatherings Magazines Winter 2013 issue my mind took me in so many directions. Being a lover of white and pale palettes myself, the journey of finding whites in my home was a instant match. Here are some of my images that didn't make the cut in the "White" issue. I'm once again pleased to announce that I'm a Contributor in this issue among other talented artists, photographers and bloggers. I can't wait to show you the finished issue it's beyond beautiful! I don't know where to start.. this past weekend was stellar! I made the trip to Franklin,Tenn to meet up with friend Heather Spriggs Thompson Editor In Chief of Gatherings Magazine

A year or more in the making, phone conferences, emails, texts, fb instant msgs finally we connected after being long distance pals. I can't tell you how much we have in common and how well we work together as a team in support of Gatherings Magazine. I've worked with so many influential women before but, Heather has such a graceful spirit about her I know we'll stay friends for years to come.
The City Farmhouse venue was picturesque as was the barn that held vip's and magazine editors/ contributors.This past weekend was facinating meeting and greeting Gatherings followers and also making those new connections I so longed to make.
Three days and counting of fun work, experiences, great moments, lots of vintage to see, great food and smiles to last a lifetime.
Many thanks to Kim and David Leggett from City Farmhouse for inviting Gatherings Magazine with open arms and helping us spread the Gatherings word across the states! A big thanks to Ki Nassauer from #fleamarketstyle for great conversation and supporting our meager beginnings. Also to Artist Rebecca Ersfeld for the interesting moments we shared plus the HUG, Time Worn Interiors KY Tot you are a peach my friend!!

September, known as the barley month has arrived in the valley. Leaves have started to fall and acorns are plentiful for our little fury friends. Locally, workers are getting those hay bails ready while, roadside stands gather what's in season on the farm. What's not to like about September..time to get ready for fall.      Being on vacation allows me to get things done on my checklist and gears me up for what's new and exciting. As you know, I collaborate with a creative team at Gatherings Magazine. We're thrilled to announce come Sept. 2 the fall issue themed "Rustic Romance" will be released to the general public in the printed version via Magcloud. Gatherings Magazine now an online e magazine is growing by leaps and bounds.. yahoo! We want to share our excitement along with our viewers and have some fun along the way too. So, here's the scoup.
   If you enjoy styling, photography and just plain being creative Gatherings Magazine Instagram challenge is for you! For the next 2 weeks Gatherings Magazine contributors and followers alike will be styling some photos and uploading them on Instagram. Want to participate?        March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb... let's see how this month all pans out. I've been very busy and have to apologize for my lack of blog hopping these days. I hope you understand. Lots of good stuff to share with all of you real soon.

It's a New Year full of plans, projects and experiences. I hope 2013 brings you health and happiness in every way.

As, we ring in the New Year. I'll be away for a bit working on a deadline for Gatherings Magazine.

Hopefully, by next week.. all my work will be complete. I'll do a dance too. If you like vintage you'll be in for a treat come Spring. Sorry, I can't show and share my inspiration. I would love to!

simple goodness::

  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's over.. now starts all the Christmas fanfare. I'm looking for simple this year. Are you?
This week was jam packed, with good things. Family, friends, yummy food, Small business Saturday, Craft Fair, Creative Artists and pine cones that my hubby gathered for me here.... He really surprised me with a bag full.
No, tree yet. Just having fun during my time off from school.

  It's been a crazy week for me. How about you? Is it Friday yet?

  Well besides crazy.. It's official. In case you haven't heard the news. I'm now a contributor of Gatherings Magazine. With this new title, brings new ideas to the forefront. I'm thrilled and a bit humble all in one. I'm excited to join a team of talented Women who inspire us with their creativity and talents.

Hooked on Instagram::

                        How are you? I've taken the instagram plunge. I didn't realize many of my friends are instagraming. I'm thinking this could be very addicting. I planted the black eyed Susan's yesterday. Oops, I just reminded myself to water them. Figures!

                 It's good to have some time to relax. Friday, was my last day of school. Yay! Tomorrow, I'll hit the thrift shop. Not, before I take a brisk morning walk. I've started walking again. Could this be why my feet are bothering me? My Daughter purchased pink tennis balls on Sunday. Yes, that's next... Eeek!

                How's your summer been? Do you collect vintage sheets and pillowcases? Well, I have a treat for you. Sorry :( You'll just have to wait till the late summer/ early fall addition of Gatherings Magazine arrives. I'm pleased to be a contributor once again. Thanks to Heather Thompson and a great team of talented Women. I can't wait to see the finished copy.
